In a move that has shocked commuters and local residents alike, a section of the skywalk originating from Kharghar railway station has been turned into an unauthorized parking zone.
The skywalk, originally designed to facilitate safe pedestrian movement from the station to surrounding sectors, is now being encroached upon by vehicles. Locals report that vehicular movement on the elevated pathway is expected to begin soon if authorities don’t intervene immediately. The matter was raised on social networking medium X as well with CIDCO tagged.
Commuters already face significant inconvenience at the station entrance due to the rampant presence of illegal hawkers. The addition of parked vehicles on the skywalk has only worsened the situation.
“This is a complete misuse of public infrastructure meant for pedestrians,” said a daily commuter. “The railway station entry is already choked with vendors. Now even the skywalk is being taken over.”
Citizens and activists are demanding immediate action from the authorities to remove encroachments and restore the skywalk for its intended purpose — safe, uninterrupted pedestrian access.
