Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its Monthly Monsoon Outlook and has predicted above normal rainfall for the July, exceeding 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA) in most parts of the country. The regions which will receive above normal rainfall includes Mumbai and Maharashtra.
In April the the IMD had released the overall Monsoon 2025 Outlook (June to September) and predicted that the monsoon seasonal rainfall is likely to be 105% of the LPA. The monsoon not only arrived early this year, but entire state is lashed with incessant rains, with Mumbai and MMR crossing average monthly rains for June.
Since June 1 to July 3 morning, Mumbai's Colaba observatory has recorded 652 mm rainfall, which in same period last year was 545 mm. While, the Santacruz observatory has recorded 558.9 mm rainfall, which in same period last year was 408.5 mm.
In its July 3 weather report, IMD has placed Mumbai, Thane and Palghar under Yellow Alert from July 5 to 7, while Raigad and Ratnagiri are under Orange Alert from July 3 to 7. The Konkan region is expected to receive heavy rainfall this week.
Mumbai was placed under Yellow Alert on July 2 and 3 as well, and the metropolis received moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places. As of 8 pm on Thursday, some of the areas which received highest in last 24 hours included: Ghatkopar (65 mm), BKC (45 mm), Nariyalwadi Santacruz (58 mm), Anand Nagar Dahisar (54 mm), Mankhurd (44 mm), Chembur (40 mm), Marol (31 mm), Kurla (41 mm), Vikhroli (48 mm), Colaba (31 mm) among others.
Since arrival of monsoon, Mumbai has already received more than 23% of its average seasonal rainfall.

The minimum and maximum temperature will be 26°C and 31°C respectively.
