Satna (Madhya Pradesh): A youth shot at and injured a head constable on the premises of the Jaitwara police station in Satna district at 12 am on Tuesday.
The incident took place when the policeman, Prince Garg, was about to take dinner, sources said.
Garg’s colleagues rushed him to the district hospital, where the doctors referred him to the Rewa Medical College.
Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Gupta and other officials visited the district hospital and enquired after Garg's condition.
A police team began to search for the shooter. Garg lives in a barrack at the Jairpura police station.
As Garg was going to have dinner, he saw masked youth standing outside his room.
Before he could understand anything, the youth shot at him. The bullet hit him in the shoulder.
Kotwali TI Ravendra Dwivedi and other policemen took him to the hospital.
Sources said Garg had suspected the youth to be Achhu Gautam, a resident of the Mehuti area.
Garg told the police officers that the attacker was wearing a mask. The injured head constable further also said he had booked Gautam’s vehicle a few days ago, which enraged him.
He may have shot at him, Garg said. The police began to probe the case.
City superintendent of police Mahendra Singh said a youth had shot at the head constable.
Garg is under treatment at the medical college, and his condition is stable, Singh said.
