Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Urban Development Minister and in charge of Satna district, Kailash Vijayvargiya, has said the Mandakini river cleanliness drive will continue for a year.
Vijayvrgiya made the statement during the cleanliness drive of the river on Monday. Vijayvargiya, during his two-day visit to Chitrakoot, participated in the river clean-up campaign under the Jal Ganga Abhiyan on the second day of his trip.
The minister said the drive was launched with the help of Deendayal Research Centre in Chitrakoot following an appeal by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
Such events will raise awareness among the people, and the Mandakini cleanliness drive will continue for a year, Vijayvargiya said. Besides human resources, machines will also be used in cleaning up the river, he said.
Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing Pratima Bagri, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Manoharlal Panth and others were present at the event.
Bherora river cleaned up
Rewa: The office-bearers of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad, together with the officials of the district administration, have cleaned up the Bherora river in the Karchulian development block, Raipur.
Member of Parliament and chief guest at the event, Janardan Mishra, said the preservation of water bodies would help the next generation. The rivers play an important role in the life of every Indian, he said.
Without rivers, irrigating farmland will be difficult, he said. It is necessary to keep the place of origin of rivers clean, he said.
Chief executive officer of district Panchayat Mehtab Singh Gurjar said, “The water bodies are being cleaned up across the country under the Jal Ganga Abhiyan.”
