Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Sanyogitaganj police busted a major inter-state gang involved in an armed robbery of 76.28 kilograms of silver, valued at over Rs 74 lakh, by arresting eight accused and recovering 33 kilograms of the looted silver, a stolen two-wheeler and other stolen items. The police also seized two country-made firearms, four live cartridges and the vehicles used in the crime.
ACP Sanyogitaganj Tushar Singh said that Bhramprakash Sisodia lodged a complaint stating that he works for a courier service and was transporting silver consignments on a two-wheeler from various Sarafa jewellers to be transported to Agra.
On June 3, while passing near Nayara Petrol Pump, unknown people stopped their car in front of him, abducted him at gunpoint and looted 76.28 kg of silver parcels (worth ₹74,37,000), his scooter, a mobile phone and ₹3,200 in cash.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and an investigation was launched.

CCTV footage from the scene showed the suspects arriving in a white car (MP09 ZX 6923) and coordinating the robbery with an Activa scooter rider. Further investigation revealed that the car had been hired as a taxi from Vijay Nagar on June 2 by four men claiming to visit Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain.
However, the car owner, Prakash Shaule, told police that he was abducted at gunpoint near Sanwer by the same men, who locked him in the trunk and later kept him captive at a hotel near Chhoti Gwaltoli while they used his vehicle for the robbery.
With no immediate leads, police intensified questioning and used technical surveillance, which led them to Akash Sisodia, a resident of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, who was detained and brought to Indore for interrogation.
Accused had worked at complainant’s shop
During interrogation, Akash allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed that the robbery was planned in Agra with eight other accomplices. Key conspirator Gaurav Sisodia, who had previously worked at the complainant’s shop, had insider knowledge about the transport of silver, including vehicle details and timings.
The gang stole a motorcycle near Bombay Hospital to use during the heist. To avoid suspicion, Gaurav and Akash remained in Agra while the rest of the gang executed the robbery. Five of them were sitting in the car while two were standing at a distance for coordination and later stole the complainant’s scooter.
Silver was hidden underground near Ujjaini
During investigation, the accused revealed they had not left the city with the silver but had buried it in an open field near Ujjaini to avoid police checkpoints.
Police teams even travelled to Kedarnath and Sonprayag (Uttarakhand) after receiving social media-based intelligence about the suspects' movements but were unable to locate them there. Eventually, based on further surveillance, the police tracked the gang when they returned to Indore to dispose of the stolen silver.
Silver distributed and partially sold
The accused told police they had divided the silver among themselves, and part of it was sold to Vinod Kumar, one of the arrested accused. They also admitted that they robbed the vehicle used in the crime because they wanted to avoid using a UP-registered car.
Police are now actively searching for the two absconding accused and working to recover the remaining 43 kilograms of silver. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the gang is connected to other inter-state crimes.
