The star of the innings was Indian captain Shubman Gill, who played a composed yet authoritative knock of 147 runs off 227 deliveries, including 19 boundaries and a six. His leadership with the bat anchored India’s innings and allowed others to bat freely around him.

Vice-captain Rishabh Pant added fireworks to the scorecard with an attacking and entertaining 134 off 178 balls, smashing 12 boundaries and 6 sixes. His aggressive intent pushed India well past the 450-mark before England finally managed to wrap up the tail.
