Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Bhopal airport is gearing up for the launch of scheduled international flights, which could begin as early as the upcoming winter schedule—usually implemented in October. If it goes ahead, it would mark the first-ever scheduled international flight operations from the city.
An official from Bhopal airport said that while non-scheduled international flights have occasionally operated since January—to destinations like Dubai and Singapore—the airport is now hopeful of getting approval for regular, scheduled services in the winter flight plan. However, the final list of international destinations is yet to be confirmed.
Troubled By Water Shortage, PMAY Residents Block Bhopal Bypass For 3 HoursAirport director Ramji Shrivastava said that all necessary preparations have been completed in anticipation of this milestone. "There is a strong possibility that Bhopal airport may be included in the scheduled international flight plan this winter," he said.
In a move to support such developments, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is reportedly considering offering financial incentives for international flight operations at 13 underused airports, one of which is Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj International Airport. Currently, there are no direct scheduled international flights from Bhopal.
