Good start for India
In this match, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bowl first and invited India to bat. Rahul and Yashasvi gave India a good start. Their pair was a hit in the first match and both the batsmen added 91 runs for the first wicket. A good partnership was developing between Yashasvi and Rahul, but Brydon Carse broke this partnership by dismissing KL and gave England its first success. After this, Sai Sudarshan, who was playing his first match, was also out without opening the account. After two setbacks on the score of 92, Yashasvi took the innings forward with Gill. There was a partnership of 129 runs for the third wicket between Yashasvi and Gill, which was broken by Ben Stokes by dismissed Yashasvi.
Yashasvi hit a century.
Playing his first Test match in England, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored a century with a brilliant performance. He faced 144 balls and completed the fifth century of his Test career. With this, he became the fifth Indian batsman to score a century in his first Test innings in England. He had completed his half-century in 96 balls before the century. After Yashasvi was out, Gill took the innings forward with vice-captain Rishabh Pant. During this, Gill scored a century and took India's score beyond 300.

Shubman achieved a big achievement
Shubman was appointed captain of the red ball format after Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket. Shubman performed brilliantly in his very first Test as captain. Gill has become the fourth Indian to score a century in his first match as a Test captain. Before him, Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli have done so. Vijay Hazare scored an unbeaten 164 against England in his first match as captain in 1951. At the same time, Sunil Gavaskar scored 116 against New Zealand in 1976 and Virat Kohli scored 115 runs in his first match as captain in Adelaide in 2014. Now Gill has also joined this special list. Rishabh Pant was also not behind, he scored a half-century in 91 balls. This is the 16th fifty of his Test career. He is looking in great form.
