India on Wednesday blocked access to the X (formerly Twitter) account of Turkish news outlet TRT World. This comes after Turkey's backing of Pakistan during the recent military standoff with India during the 'Operation Sindoor'.
India, in a briefing during Operation Sindoor, said that Pakistan used Turkish drones across 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek to target Indian military installations during the conflict.

"The Indian armed forces shot down many of these drones using kinetic and non-kinetic means. The possible purpose of such large-scale aerial intrusions was to test air defence systems and collect intelligence," Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said.
"Forensic investigation of the wreckage of the drones is being done. Initial reports suggest that they are Turkish Asisguard Songar drones," she said.
Earlier, India also banned the X account handles of Global Times and Xinhua.
This development came in the backdrop of Beijing announcing Chinese names for some places in Arunachal Pradesh, which the neighbouring country claims as the southern part of Tibet.
