A gas leak at a chemical company in the Ambernath area of Thane district on Thursday triggered an emergency situation after the gas spread across the surrounding locality.
The incident occurred during a routine venting operation at the company, according to officials from the Ambernath Fire Brigade.
As soon as the gas leakage was detected, as per reports, local residents complained of irritation in throats and visibility was also affected. Fire brigade also immediately reached to the site.
The cause of the leak is still unknown and further details are awaited.
