London’s Heathrow and Berlin's Brandenburg Airports, are facing delays due to technical problems at a service provider, officials said.
Collins Aerospace, which supplies check-in and boarding systems for multiple airlines, is experiencing a technical issue that may affect departing passengers, Heathrow Airport stated in a post on X.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport reported longer waiting times at check-in for the same reason, and said the disruption was impacting other airports across Europe.
Brussels Airport also confirmed that a cyberattack on Friday night against the service provider, whose name was not disclosed, has forced operations to switch to manual check-in and boarding. The airport posted a notice on its website warning passengers of potential delays.
Passengers are advised to allow extra time for check-in and boarding, and airlines have asked travellers to check the status of their flights before arriving at the airport.
The technical issue highlights the growing dependence of European airports on third-party technology providers and the vulnerabilities it creates for passenger operations.
