Amitabh Bachchan's co-star murdered: Actor Priyanshu dies after argument with close friend. What happened?

Actor Priyanshu, popularly known as Babu Ravi Singh Chhetri or “Babu Chhetri,” who gained recognition for his role in the 2022 Hindi film Jhund, was tragically murdered in Nagpur early Wednesday morning. The accused, identified as 20-year-old Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu, has been taken into police custody.

Incident and Arrest
PTI has reported that according to police, Priyanshu and Sahu were close friends who frequently consumed alcohol together. On Tuesday night, the duo reportedly rode to an abandoned house in the Jaripatka area for a drinking session. During the course of the evening, an argument broke out, during which Priyanshu allegedly threatened Sahu. Following the altercation, Priyanshu fell asleep.

Fearing potential harm, Sahu allegedly tied Priyanshu with wires and attacked him with a sharp weapon. Locals discovered the actor in a severely injured and half-naked condition around 3 AM on Wednesday. They promptly alerted authorities, and Priyanshu was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

As per PTI, a police official confirmed, “We have registered a case of murder and arrested Sahu. Both Chhetri and Sahu had previous criminal cases against them, including theft and assault.” Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Career and Recognition
Priyanshu, aged 21, earned acclaim for his supporting role in Jhund, a biographical sports drama directed by Nagraj Manjule and starring Amitabh Bachchan. The film, released in 2022, tells the story of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer, and follows a sports teacher who forms a football team with children from underprivileged communities, transforming their lives through the sport.

The young actor’s untimely death has shocked fans and members of the film fraternity alike. His promising career was only beginning to take shape when tragedy struck. Priyanshu's performance in Jhund had earned him appreciation for his authenticity and energy, making his untimely death all the more heartbreaking.
