The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a cautionary notice to all stakeholders involved in the (IPL), warning them about attempts to lure participants into potentially corrupt activities. This alert extends to franchise owners, players, coaches, support staff, and even commentators.

The Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) has identified a businessman from Hyderabad with known links to bookies, and a history of involvement in corruption-based activities. According to ACSU, this individual has been trying to befriend participants of the IPL disguising as a fan. The ACSU has advised all teams to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious interactions with the individual.

His modus operandi reportedly includes offering expensive gifts, such as jewellery, and extending lavish invitations to parties in order to trap the targets. In some instances, the individual is believed to have approached family members of franchise owners, players, and staff through social media platforms, offering to take them to high-end jewellery stores and luxury hotels.
