New Delhi [India], November 3 (ANI): A fire broke out in a furniture factory and godown in Delhi's Kirti Nagar area on Sunday, claiming the lives of two people, police said.
The deceased were identified as Atul Rai, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh and Nand Kishore Dube, a resident of Bihar's Gaya. Rai was working as a labourer in the same premise and used to sleep there, while Nand Kishore used to work as a rickshaw puller.
According to Delhi Police, the fire incident was reported in the police station in Kirti Nagar area around 4.30 am regarding a fire on the roofs of two buildings numbered at WHS Kirti Nagar.
As per the officials, seven fire tenders were called on the spot to extinguish the fire.
The premise was thoroughly checked and it was found that the room of the roof is locked from inside. It was forced open to find that two persons had succumbed to death due to suffocation, the police said.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been called on the spot to ascertain the cause of the fire, officials said.
