UP Assistant Professor Recruitment 2025: In the screening examination conducted for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in government colleges, now darkening the circle on the OMR sheet will not work. The syllabus of the screening examination is being revised. Candidates will now have to answer long answer questions instead of objective. Screening test marks will also be added to the selection of candidates.
The Directorate of Higher Education has sent a requisition to the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) through the government for the recruitment of 562 posts of Assistant Professor in government colleges. Now the revised syllabus is waiting for the green signal from the government level. The decision to revise the syllabus has been taken to deeply test the understanding of the subject of the candidates going to become Assistant Professor.
Screening test marks will be added to the merit.
Earlier, objective-type questions were asked in the screening examination and each question had four options. Candidates had to darken the circle of the OMR sheet by choosing one option as the correct answer. The screening examination was only for shortlisting the candidates. This exam had no role in merit. Candidates were selected only based on marks obtained in the interview.
Now the merit will be prepared by adding 75% marks of the screening exam and 25% marks of the interview. Also, instead of objective-type questions, long answer-type questions will be asked in the screening exam, whose answers the candidates will have to write in detail.
The commission will issue a recruitment advertisement as soon as approval is received.
This change is being made with the objective that the candidates who will teach the students as assistant professors, ' understanding of the subject can be tested in depth before they become assistant professors. The proposal related to both these changes was sent to the government by UPPSC long ago. The government had sent the proposal to the Higher Education Department for testing and the Higher Education Department had sought comments from the Directorate of Higher Education.
Sources say that the Directorate has approved the courses with its comments. Now the final approval is awaited from the government. The commission will issue a recruitment advertisement as soon as approval is received from the government.
