Liverpool has confirmed the impending departure of Dave Fallows, .

Arriving back in 2012, , moving to Merseyside alongside Barry Hunter, who remains Liverpool's chief scout. Fallows left City, where he was their first-team scouting and recruitment co-ordinator, choosing to join Liverpool following the appointment of .

A statement from confirming the news read: "Liverpool FC can confirm Dave Fallows is to leave the club after deciding to bring his 12 years of service to a close. As a result, he will step down from his position of director of scouting and recruitment, having informed the Reds’ hierarchy of his intention to depart.

"In keeping with his long-standing commitment to the club, Fallows initially chose to delay his decision and remain in post to assist with the transition of the new football leadership team before leaving.

"With that process now navigated, he has chosen to bring an end to his successful tenure as a key figure in Liverpool’s football operations structure by the end of this year."

They also added: "His work in the recruitment field was fundamental in helping build a team that would go on to achieve success at home and abroad, with the Reds winning the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, two League Cups and the FA Cup during his tenure."

Prior to arriving at Anfield and working for City, Fallows also worked for Bolton, joining the Wanderers after having been part of Prozone, which served as a gateway to the implementation of analytics within soccer. At Liverpool, his remit fell under that of FSG's CEO of football Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes, the latter of which over saw Fallows and his colleagues David Woodfine, William Spearman and Hunter.

And Fallows is also credited with playing a major role in helping to convince Jurgen Klopp to sign Mohamed Salah from Roma back in 2017. after the Reds signed the Egyptian forward, stating back in 2017: "We watched Salah so often, saw him so often. The scouting department was really behind me, and wanted to do it even earlier so that nobody could jump in! We were sure he can help us. Michael Edwards, Dave Fallows and Barry (Hunter), they were really in my ear and were on it 'Come on, come on, Mo Salah, he's the solution!'"

Speaking to Liverpool's official club website about his departure, Fallows said: "I have been very privileged to work for this incredible football club. The fantastic people here starting with the supporters make it so special – to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented players and colleagues past and present who are now friends is something I am very grateful for.

"The leadership here, from ownership, through to Michael [Edwards], Richard [Hughes], Arne [Slot], Billy [Hogan] and Alex [Inglethorpe], is world-class. I have no doubt they will continue to thrive. They are supported by great people across many departments who I will miss working with but will continue to stay close to.

“There are far too many to mention but I am especially grateful to Barry Hunter and all those within the recruitment department who have been a joy to work alongside. Leaving in the knowledge that I will be leaving this place in such great shape is something that means a lot to me. I look forward to supporting the team from a different perspective now but with the same passion for their success."

And Fallows meant a lot to Edwards too. "Dave has been a trusted colleague for over 10 years and a close friend for two decades," Edwards said following the news of Fallows impending departure. I respect his decision and wish him nothing but success with whatever he does next. He and his family will always be welcome at our club after the contribution he has made. We will miss him."

Liverpool.com says: Clearly Fallows exit is a loss for Liverpool. He played a instrumental role in their recruitment during the Jurgen Klopp era, but has decided to walk away from his role following 12 years of service to the Reds.
