Travelodge is planning to turn an office building in central London into a new 95-room hotel, providing that planning permission falls into place.
It is hoped that building work on the hotel in St Paul's will begin in early 2026. Jo Boydell, chief executive, said: "Office-to-hotel conversion is a sustainable way of developing as it allows us to meet the growing demand for budget hotels while reducing the carbon impact that new development brings.
Mr Boydell also said the company is keen to continue to increase its market presence in the capital. He added: "We are also happy to be continuing to expand our portfolio in London, where we currently operate 82 hotels, with a further five developments under way."
Travelodge said it continues to see significant growth opportunities in the UK, with more than 300 target locations identified following its review of gaps in the market.
