"I just think it's rubbish," Carragher said. " is a certain type of manager. He's a man of the people. theres a feeling in Germany, and I understand the model in Germany, this (Red Bull) is completely different. But the idea Jurgen has got to stick to the ideals of Mainz and Dortmund supporters for the rest of his life..

"We're all hypocrites, to be honest, we all have views on certain things, but if someone offers us enough money, we'd still do it. He's not the manager of Red Bull, he's overseeing. He's speaking to people, going to meetings and getting paid a lot of money.

"If Mainz and Dortmund supporters are that against the Red Bull model then why did Dortmund buy from them? Why did they get Adeyemi? If you're so against it then don't buy and sell players to them. They got the best striker in the and then sold him for £50m to City and that was okay."

Carragher also pointed out the previous movements between and Red Bull clubs. Klopp's side signed Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig in recent years, while former assistant manager Pep Lijnders is now in the dugout at Red Bull Salzburg and signed two Liverpool youngsters over the summer.

Both of those youngsters were on the bench for Salzburg on Wednesday, with Stefan Bajcetic playing the final half hour and Bobby Clark remaining an unused sub as Lijnders' side took on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. The Austrian side lost 2-0, with a red card for goalkeeper Alexander Schlager not helping their cause, and are yet to earn a point in Europe.

It's a different story for Liverpool, who have thrived under Klopp's successor . Konate and Szoboszlai both completed the full 90 minutes at Red Bull Arena as Slot's team beat Leipzig 1-0 to continue their 100 percent start in the same competition.
