Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley, a household name for his numerous TV gigs and notably for his partnership with wife Judy Finnigan, took a trip down memory lane in the Channel 5 documentary Richard and Judy: Our Best Bits - In Our Own Words.

The duo reminisced over their 13-year stint on ITV's This Morning, which they left in 2001, highlighting some unforgettable segments.

One moment was a rather cringeworthy live Viagra test involving three couples. Back in the late '90s, these couples were invited on the show to then spend time in a hotel and report back on their experiences.

Judy reflected on the segment, admitting: "Looking back now, yes I'm sure it was incredibly crude but at the same time it felt very energetic and very vibrant."

Richard chimed in with his take: "Everybody was talking about viagra, we went a step further and we tested it live on air."

Now 68, Richard recounted how the couples came back after an hour and a half to share their thoughts, reports Gloucestershire Live.

In nostalgic footage aired by Channel 5, viewers watched as Richard delicately asked one of the participants: "Put it this way then, I'll choose my words carefully, was it what you hoped for

"Was it everything you hoped for and more?"

The response from one woman, affirming her satisfaction amidst studio laughter and her joking hesitation to return to work, indicated success.

Yet, it appeared Judy's current view on the segment wasn't quite as enthusiastic.

In the tell-all documentary, she revealed: "There was a producer prowling up and down the corridor outside their rooms in the hotel with walkie-talkies. It's just absolutely, looking back now it's awful!"

Nick Bullen, formerly at the helm of This Morning, shared that a major concern had been someone having an adverse reaction to the concoction.

The doc also regaled viewers with a flashback to Richard hamming it up as Sacha Baron Cohen's Ali G while interviewing his other half fully in character.

Reflecting on the iconic moment, Richard said: "I know people rip it out of me for doing Ali G and that's fine I completely get why."

"But, I do think it was quite a funny script! At home, I used to occasionally drop into Ali G which the kids thought was very funny."

During their appearance in the documentary, it was their son Jack who spilled the beans, admitting he was the mastermind behind the encouragement.

Richard and Judy: Our Best Bits is available to watch on My5.
