Olympics star set to do I'm A Celeb after revealing he's a 'huge fan' of ITV show

There's already speculation about the line-up for the next series of I'm A Celebrity and a gold medal-winning Olympian is said to be in talks to be a campmate on the show.

It's been reported that retired artistic gymnast Max Whitlock, 31, has met with those behind the ITV show and talks are "ongoing," though the line-up has yet to be announced. Max has previously shared that he's a "big fan" of it.

He would be the latest sports champion to take part in the show, following in the footsteps of former campmates like Tony Bellew, Jill Scott, Matty Lee and Kadeena Cox, who have all competed on the show in recent years. Professional footballer Jill even won I'm A Celeb in 2022, whilst Tony was runner-up last year.

A source told the Sun: "Max has met with the I'm A Celebrity bookers and talks are ongoing. He is a huge fan of the show and has been keen to take part for years." They added that it's the first time ITV have "invited him to meet" and that its thought he could be a "brilliant" campmate.

"Max has good looks, charm and is super competitive, which would come in handy when it comes to the Bushtucker trials," the source continued. They added that there could be "no better time" for him to "spread his wings" now that he's left gymnastics and that a potential stint in the jungle could be "the start of an exciting career in TV".

As reported by the Evening Standard in 2022, Max shared at the Sun's Who Cares Wins Awards two years ago that he would be open to "discussions" about appearing on the show in the future. He added that he's a "big fan".

The speculation of Max's potential involvement in the upcoming series of I'm A Celeb comes following his latest efforts at the Olympics in Paris earlier this year. He had announced prior that it would be his final Olympic Games.

He once again represented Team GB at the international contest but didn't secure a medal with his final routine on the pommel horse, instead placing fourth. He said at the time: "I am proud to be here. Of course I would have hoped for it to end better but my decision to come to Paris here was not based on the outcome. It was based on just being here at my fourth Olympics and to have that fourth Olympics in my journey."

Max already had three gold medals to his name, as well as three bronze medals, from previous years. He made his Olympics debut in London back in 2012, and had then competed in Rio four years later, and then at the delayed games in Tokyo in 2021.
