The Bear's sweep at the Emmys was met with mixed reactions from fans, despite their love for the show.

Some questioned its placement in the comedy category at the award ceremony, taking to social media to vent their frustration. A user on X (previously known as Twitter) expressed confusion over the categorization: "The Bear is not a comedy show idk why they keep getting away with category fraud every year."

Despite the series' success at the Emmy Awards, Ayo Edebiri missed out on the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series accolade for her portrayal of Sydney Adamu. Disappointed fans sounded off online, with one saying, "how are you going to rob Ayo Edebiri from her Emmy on independence day like," while another confessed, "I was so sure Ayo Edebiri would go home with her second Emmy Award I feel very humbled."

Viewers found it odd that Edebiri didn't win an Emmy given the recognition her co-stars received, prompting comments such as "How did every single cast member from The Bear (that was nominated) EXCEPT Ayo win... that's crazy."

Jeremy Allen White took home the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series award, while Liza Colon-Zayas won her first Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series with an emotional acceptance speech. Ebon Moss-Bachrach also bagged the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Eugene Levy, who kicked off the Emmy night with a monologue, addressed the controversy surrounding The Bear's categorization by stating, "I know some of you might be expecting us to make a joke about whether The Bear is really a comedy...but in the true spirit of The Bear we will not be making any jokes."

The star-studded event was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, September 15. In a historic first, father-and-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy hosted the show.

The show received nominations for lead comedy actor (Jeremy Allen White), lead comedy actress (Ayo Edebiri), supporting comedy actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Lionel Boyce), supporting comedy actress (Liza Colon-Zayas), directing (Storer for Fishes and Ramy Youssef for Honeydew TK) and writing (Fishes by Joanna Calo and Storer).
