Dad's agonising fear when 'spiteful' ex faked DNA test to stop him seeing kids

Send Push

A heartbroken father has revealed his biggest fear when he found out his "spiteful" ex had faked his kid's DNA test in a bid to stop him from seeing his two children.

Kyle Fitton, 28, was "broken" after his ex and mother of his daughters, Georgina Saville, had faked a DNA test and lied on the birth certificate of their second child as she threatened he wouldn't be able to see his kids again. Kyle admitted he lost sleep over worrying about whether or not Georgina would take their kids abroad, meaning any glimmer of hope he'd have to see them would be shattered.

However the brave dad didn't give up, and after a courthouse battle, fraudster Saville, 25, admitted she had botched the test she'd found online and lied about the paternity, claiming the baby's dad was her new boyfriend's instead.

She was found guilty after a four-day trial at Southampton Crown Court, Hants, where a judge warned her she could now face jail after being convicted of perverting the course of public justice and a rare charge of wilfully making a false declaration as to a birth.

After a series of breakups and getting back together, Kyle and Georgina broke up again shortly after she fell pregnant with their second child. The court heard that Georgina made Kyle and his mum Jayne abide by some 'strict' rules and jurors were told that Georgina had "weaponised" the issue of contact with their daughter.

Recalling the ordeal, Kyle said: "It was constant and it was her way or the highway. I unfortunately followed her rules but I followed them for [their eldest daughter] at that time - to be a dad and to make sure she was happy."

"It scared me because we believed she was actually going to leave the country at one point," he said. "I thought I was going to have my girls taken from me and nothing could be done. I thought it was going to be the end of the world - they are my world. It did really scare me the fact that she could do that."

The court was told that Georgina had threatened that once she had blocked Kyle and Jayne, they wouldn't be able to contact her 'without a solicitor'. In one message to Kyle's mum, she said: "Tell him he ain't seeing her ever again and he can take me to court. That's the final straw, I have been nice enough to the dead-beat cheat. Once I've blocked you all you won't be able to contact me without a solicitor. I have told you the terms, I'm not having it anymore. I suggest you tell him to respond and reply, otherwise that's it."

Georgina had also told Kyle's mum she has no issue stopping Kyle from seeing their daughter "if he doesn't pay up" and said: "It's very easy for children to forget absent fathers." Now, after lengthy family and criminal court proceedings have concluded, Kyle's children are now under the legal guardianship of his mother - meaning he gets to see them every day, something he cherishes.

But despite the "amazing" relief of finally being reunited with his daughters, the heartbreaking experience is still impacting his work as a mechanic. "It's still in the back of my mind, I can't get rid of it," he added.

He said while his two daughters' bond was now blossoming, the heart-aching 15 month wait to meet his baby was unbearable. "The bond between them now is ecstatic," he continued. "[The newborn] had never met me, it took some time to bond that relationship. But now it's amazing. We were finally united before her second birthday."
