Coronation Street teases identity of Joel's killer after car clue - but it's 'not Ronnie'

Send Push

dropped major hints over who killed Joel Deering on Monday night, despite a load of suspects.

Ronnie Bailey was back under the spotlight as Ds Swain made a discovery about the night Joel was killed. Someone else in the episode was acting quite suspiciously, teasing they could instead be the killer like fans have suspected.

Ronnie was first suspected recently, and he and his brother Ed Bailey were questioned. With Joel engaged to Ronnie's niece Dee-Dee Bailey, police wondered if Ronnie killed him over his betrayal towards Dee-Dee.

He had been seen by viewers to possess a crowbar, the very item deemed to be the murder weapon. It seemed as though the brothers did go to Joel's flat the night he died, but he wasn't there.

They broke in and then apparently left. So why did Ronnie's car collide with another vehicle that same night outside Joel's flat, or near it, and was he the man heard having an argument? The owner of the vandalised car revealed his wing mirror had been broken, with red paint marks all over the side of the car.

He heard someone having a row and it seems it was Ronnie, while Ronnie denied any wrongdoing. When Swain found out he had a red car that was sent to the garage for works after Joel's death, she wasted no time in sharing her theory.

Swain confronted Ronnie in front of Dee-Dee, asking him about the damage to his car and whether he caused the damage to the other vehicle. She also quizzed him about the row, while Ronnie downplayed everything.

As the accusations continued, it was Dee-Dee who was getting more and more upset though. She had a go at Swain for accusing Ronnie, suggesting she knew what she was doing.

It got to the point that there was an almost stand-off between the women, as Dee-Dee told her to back down. Telling her she'd got it wrong, Dee-Dee made it clear Joel was not killed by Ronnie.

But how could she knows this, and might it imply she could be the killer? After all we saw flashbacks showing she did see Joel that night, and she too had a crowbar.

After days of acting weirdly and seeming unwell, we saw Dee-Dee was hiding something dark. Her flashback that announced her as a suspect revealed she tracked down Joel and threatened him.

As she got up to his car, she raised the crowbar as Joel looked on in shock through the windscreen. The next time we saw her she was washing blood off of her hands and the crowbar, but is she guilty? Then again Swain could also be guilty amid her mystery injury. She was seen chasing a car that revved at her, screaming at the driver to stop - was it Joel?
