Pop icon Chesney Hawkes has revealed he once delivered papers to a legendary singer-songwriter when he was just a teenager. The 53-year-old was catapulted into the spotlight in 1991 when he unleashed his chart-topping single, The One and Only - released when he was just 19.
A few years earlier, when he was only 14, the singer was making money as a paper boy - and had a major music star among his clients. He has revealed that the singer was a good tipper - but he wasn't exactly looking forward to his rounds as the fellow star would order "all" the papers, making deliveries on Sundays particularly hard work.
On Friday, was a guest on Bauer Media Group's Greatest Hits Radio where he joined Scottish radio presenter and television host, for a catch up. The pair reflected on their careers - with Chesney sharing an "exclusive" about his paper boy days.

He said: "When I was a kid, I lived in a little town called Sunningdale, and Billy Ocean lived in the next road along from us. I think he's still there, actually."
He went on: "When I was about 14, I was his paper boy." Stunned, Ken, 74, said: "Really? There we are. The connections all the way through."
Going on, Chesney laughed: "You get an exclusive here." Ken then probed: "Yeah, which papers did he take? Do you remember?" And Chesney replied: "Oh, he used to do the whole big ones. Because on the Sunday, it was always the worst day. Because you always get, like, The Sunday Times which was the size of a brick. And Billy had them all."
Chesney then revealed: “He was a good tipper, though, good.” And, again stunned, Ken gasped: "Oh, well, I was gonna ask that. He's all right. He's turned out all right."
Chesney has been thrilled to release a brand new album this week - with Living Arrows being unleashed on Friday. The record is his first since 2012's Real Life Love and has seen him collaborate with producer Jake Gosling - who has made smash hits for , Sam Smith and .
On Thursday, Chesney drummed up excitement for his new record, writing online: "When I wake up tomorrow I will have a new album out and you can all get stuck into it! Too exciting! Don’t forget you can still buy it via the link in my bio and of from midnight you can stream the whole thing too!"
He added: "We had such a great album launch @pryzmkingston with @banquetrecords - thank you guys for organising and to all you amazing people that showed up! We had a blast and now we blast off!"
Speaking to The Sun this week, he shared his delight at being able to write with Jake - who he counts as a long-time friend - and regrets not collaborating with Ed when he was up and coming. He told the outlet: “I’d do sessions for [Jake] and we’d be trying to get a song for someone like Kylie Minogue.
“He told me about this kid, Ed Sheeran, who was sleeping on his couch. Jake said, ‘Come and do a session.’ I said: ‘Ed who? I’m working with A1 now,’ like I was Mr big b*****ks. [When writing Living Arrows] Jake said, ‘I can fit you in between Harry and Sam next week.’
“We wrote Nobody Like You in 20 minutes in the garden then got the beers out. Jake said to me, ‘You’ve got to do an album now. That was so fun.’ It went from there.”
