Ariana Grande's boyfriend Ethan Slater reveals 'difficult' relationship with singer

Wicked star Ethan Slater has confessed that he has found it "difficult" with having his relationship with singer being in the public eye.

The pair first met on the set of the film adaptation of the musical Wicked in 2022. But their relationship caused a huge stir as was legally married at the time - and so too was Ariana. So this may explain why the actor was seen posing on his own while on the red carpet of Wicked over this weekend, while the hitmaker was pictured with co-star Cynthia Erivo.

Ethan cut a sophisticated appearance in a dark green jacket teamed with a pair of black trousers and a matching bowtie. At the time their relationship was made public, Ethan, 32, was married to his who he shares a child with. It has been claimed that Ethan and Ariana kick started their alleged affair while filming the two-part film of the theatre production.

Speaking to GQ magazine, the film star explained how his relationship has been with in the public glare. He said: "I think there was something that was really difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public."

He added: "It’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything about what’s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love." Now, a year on, the pair appear to be going from strength to strength despite the scandal surrounding their on-set romance.

The film is based on a fictional novel by Gregory Maguire which the musical adapted, telling the story of the Wicked Witch Of The West, from the Wizard Of Oz. In the film, actress Cynthia plays the title character while Arian plays her best friend Galinda, who then transforms into Galinda The Good Witch Of The North.

Meanwhile, Ethan plays Boq, who desperately tries to win the affection of Galinda but unfortunately meets an untimely end. Gushing about the singer, who is globally renowned, he told the publication: "I’m just really excited. I’m just really, really proud of Ari and the work she’s done on this. 'I’m really excited to be there for this next step of it when the gets to see the amazing thing that she did."

Ethan filed for divorce last year and Ariana also instigated divorce proceedings in September of that year from Dalton Gomez. She claimed she had separated from her estranged husband in February of that year. Speaking about her frustration surrounding the alleged overlap of her new relationship, she told The Zach Sang Show: "I feel like we don't need to go into any specifics. But of course, there's an insatiable frustration, inexplicable, hellish feeling with watching people misunderstand the people you love, and you and anything."
