With this move, employees can now download their EPF passbook, UAN card, pension documents, and scheme certificates anytime, anywhere—all from their smartphones.

What’s New in EPFO Services?

Until now, PF passbook access was limited to the UMANG app, but starting July 17, 2025, Android smartphone users can also retrieve their documents directly from the DigiLocker app. This announcement was officially made by EPFO on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.

This development not only simplifies document access but also makes your entire PF history available at your fingertips—eliminating the need to visit EPFO offices or rely solely on the UMANG app.

⚠️ Note for iPhone Users: As of now, iOS users still need to use the UMANG app for accessing their EPFO services. DigiLocker support for iOS may be rolled out in the future.

EPFO has made the following documents available digitally via DigiLocker:

How to Activate UAN Using Face Authentication (via UMANG App):

Download and open the UMANG app on your phone.

Navigate to the ‘EPFO’ service section.

Click on ‘UAN Activation’.

Enter your UAN number, full name, date of birth, and registered mobile number.

Tap on ‘Get OTP’, enter the OTP received.

Select ‘Face Authentication’.

Allow the app to access your camera and scan your face.

After successful verification, your UAN will be activated instantly.
